For I Know the Plans...

I have grown up on Disney.  In fact, I have been there more times than I can count on my hands and feet, but the thing that made it more magical than anything else was my parents. There I am standing in front of the most magical castle in the most magical place on earth, Disney. They planned. And I don’t mean they just had a little loosy-goosy plan that shifted and changed with our whims; no my father spent hours planning so that we all got to ride our favorite attractions, not just once, but more than once.  He was the mastermind of the trip (my mom was moral support).  I loved every second of those trips because I knew my father had my best interests at heart.  I knew that I would get to ride the Pirates of the Caribbean ride or see the Indiana Jones Stunt Show because I knew my father had planned it, for he knew the desires of my heart. These trips are some of my greatest memories because of my father’s planning, but how much more do you think God plans for you?  My father is an incredible man who will always be one of my heroes, but how much more incredible of a father do you think the Father is.  He crafted the stars so that you could live amongst them.  He shaped the formless void that became earth so you could have a place to live.  He breathes the breath of life into your lungs every morning, ever so gently so that you can be with Him.  Even when we rejected Him, He kept pursuing us.  John 3:16 says, “He sent His one and only Son so that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."  This is your Father.  Not some far off God that spun the world on its axis and now sits back and watches.No.So let’s think for a moment. If this is your Father, can you imagine the plans that He has for your life.  If my dad could plan the most amazing trips to Disney because he loved us, can you imagine the plans He has for your life because He loves you!  The greatness of those plans rival the greatness of the seas or the majesty of the mountains. But let me ask you this…Why do you still act like He has no plan at all?Just because you do not know the plan He has for you does not mean it is not there.  If you knew the plan that He has for you right now you might run scared.  I am sure that if you told Billy Graham, as a boy, that he would speak to thousands when he grew up, he would be scared. Sometimes we are not ready for the plans and promises that God has for our lives, but that does not mean that they are not there. You must always remember Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you, to give you a hope and a future”  These plans are not plans that are lightly made and easily forgotten.  These are plans that He has spent millenniums thinking about. The Bible says that He knew you before you were even in your mother’s womb.  You were not even in this world yet and He had plans for you.  Not just any plans, but great plans that would fulfill the desires of your heart.  Why would He give you snake when you ask for bread?  He wants to give you the greatest He can because He loves you deeply.Sometimes, we stop there though.  We know that God has a plan, but we either sit down and wait or we go in the wrong direction.  No matter how much planning my father did, if we did not go to Orlando, Florida and go to the park, all of that planning would be for nothing.  We had to get up from where we were and begin to walk in the direction of my father’s promise.  On the other hand, if we walked the wrong way or got distracted and veered off from the plan, the plan would be for nothing.  We had to listen to my father’s instructions even if they did not make sense at the time, or if it did not look like what we thought it should.  We had to trust his plan.God has a plan for your life.A glorious and great plan. But you must listen and respond.Otherwise, you may miss the greatest ride of your life.
